Description
Vintage 1972 Orange/Matamp OR200 200 watt tube amp head!!This is as rare as it gets for Vintage Orange or Matamp gear!!!Especially in this condition! You are bidding on an extremely rare 1972 Orange/Matamp OR200 guitar or bass amp head.Orange made limited numbers of these in the early 1970'sThese 200 watt Orange/Matamps were made by Matamp for Orange and are the only fully hand made and hand wired amplifier that Orange has ever produced with exception of a few of the very early Orange/Matamp amps and the new custom shop Orange's. This amp is even signed by Mat Mathias the original owner and operator of Matamp.Take a look at the pictures of the wiring! Its truly a work of art! This is truly a collectors piece! The amp features the original GEC KT88 power tubes which are all running strong! As well as the original Mullard pre amp tubes! The tubes in this amp alone are worth about $800!!The amp has a great history.... The amp was bought new in 1972 by the BBC and used on the BBC's Radio One Roadshow throughout the 1970's then the amp was purchased by a sound tech who worked for the BBC who took the amp and some other Orange gear back to New York where it was put into storage for about 10 years. I am the third owner and have been using the amp for recording.Tone wise you can get the sweetest bell like clean tones and if you turn this beast up you can get some thundering overdriven tones. This amp is very versatile. It sounds great with guitar and amazing with Bass! This is the same model of amp that Jimmy Page used to use back in the day!The amp features Cannon speaker Jacks, the XLR to 1/4" adapters will be included with the amp. Cannon XLR jacks were standard on BBC owned equipment. The amp works and sounds great! This is truly a piece of Orange/Matamp history. Please see all the pictures for details on cosmetic condition. If you have any questions and want to talk in person please give me a call at (604) 812-5406 or email. 0 Feedback bidders must email me or call first to show you are serious. Buyer to pay actual shipping costs which should be in the $100 range to the USA But please email for an exact quote. Overseas shipping Airport to Airport using a freight forwarding company will be in the $200-$300 range. I am experienced in shipping valuable amps and cabs so I will make sure it is packed properly for shipping. There will be a $20 packing charge on top of shipping to cover packing materials and it takes me about 2 hours to pack something this big properly! I will ship worldwide. Due to the nature of vintage equipment the amp is sold as is with no returns so ask all questions before bidding! Payment to be by Bank wire transfer only in Canadian dollars using the conversion rate of the day at the end of the auction.  The paypal fees will be too big for payment with paypal. I will accept Certapay www.certapay.ca from Canadian buyers.Local pickup is also available. Sorry but no paypal as the fees are too big on an item like this! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! br> I've been getting some questions regarding what each knob does so here is a brief explanation of what each control does.    Its hard to explain what each knob does unless you are familiar with these old Orange/Matamp heads.... The controls are the same as the OR100 amps. I'll try to explain what each knob does.    You dont need to crank the amp to get good tone.... The louder you turn it up the more overdrive you get in your tone.... The amp sounds amazing at low volumes! Very clean bell like tone! Perfect for bass or guitar in the studio! The controls are : Depth... with the depth knob all the way to the right you get the thickest tone and as you back off to the left the tone gets more suited to guitar instead of bass.. Its a 6 position switch and has 6 settings... You can get some great tonal variation with this knob.... Next is the Drive knob which is pretty much useless on the first two settings... The studio settings get you a twangy radio tone... very thin.... while the two stage settings get some amazing tones! It is a 4 position switch with 4 tonal options... I also have an Orange/Matamp OR100 amp and the Studio settings on that amp are the same.Bass... which is self explanatory...Treble.....Boost....... This acts like a presence knob. And of course Volume.....There is also a presence knob on the back of the power section on the back of the amp...The amp is not that heavy.... Its much lighter than an Ampeg SVT head.Hope that helps!
